A big thank you to all who joined us on First Friday, November 3rd, 2023, for a very special Meet & Greet with local illustrator Michael Munshaw! We were very happy to meet Michael, his family, and such a fun group of so many comic fans!

A chance encounter at the “Big Duck Weekend” last August connected us with this very talented artist. After seeing Michael’s work and hearing about his artistic adventures, we asked him if he would be available for a special guest appearance at our gallery.

Munshaw was kind enough to not only accept our invitation, but also brought with him a big box of 11x17” prints which he signed and gave away for free!

Michael is an Illustrator/Graphic Designer who has been in the industry for many years. His artwork is wide ranging, always displaying a dynamic energy to each piece.

As an illustrator he has completed sketch work for Star Wars, Marvel, Rick & Morty, Archer, Dynamite Comics, and more!

The next First Friday event at St. Mary’s County Arts Council will be a Holiday Open House on December 1st, 2023 from 5 to 8 PM. Live music by Doc Lohn will be from 6 to 7:30 PM. Come meet our staff and artists!

Join us in Leonardtown on First Fridays for the return of our 2023 Audience Participation Drum Circles!

This is a free event open to all ages and skill levels.

We will have percussion instruments available to borrow, but please feel welcome to bring your own. We also have free egg shakers available which you can keep afterwards.

Clap your hands, dance, or just stop by to watch and listen, etc. - no instruments needed for those options!

Bring your own chair or a picnic blanket to sit on. You may also want to bring bug spray since we will be outside!

The location for this event will be at the grassy area adjacent to our office/ the Leonardtown Arts Center (22660 Washington St, Leonardtown, MD 20650). If the grass is wet due to earlier rains then we will meet at the parking lot right behind our building.

If the weather is poor (raining/ very imminent rain) this event will be moved indoors or canceled. Announcements of any changes will be made on Facebook. Feel free to also call us at 240-309-4061 for any updates.

Come join us a few minutes early to set up your drums and chairs. Stay for the whole time or come and go as you please!
