Independent Artist COVID-19 Relief Fund Grants - Round #2

This grant period will open at noon on November 7th at noon and close at 5 PM on November 23rd, 2020. NOTE: this round is now closed.

The Independent Artist COVID-19 grants were created by the St. Mary’s County Arts Council in response to financial need resulting from the current pandemic.

The St. Mary’s County Arts Council seeks to provide support for independent artists who rely on their art form as a main, or one of their main, source(s) of income. Artists who have seen a significant decrease in their arts-related earnings as a result of the State of Emergency declared in the state of Maryland are eligible to apply if they meet the criteria below.

These small, limited grants are unrestricted for essential expenses such as paying rent, healthcare costs, buying groceries, or paying a utility bill. Grants may not be used for vacation travel and other non-essential expenses.

A total of $4,800, funds moved from another part of our budget, will be distributed in amounts of $300 per artist (one grant per artist) for a total of 16 grants. If additional funds become available we will open future rounds.

Please download and complete the attached application and return to us by e-mail at: info@smcart.org no later than 5 PM on Monday, November 23rd, 2020. Applications will be accepted by email only, you will receive a message that we received it within 24 to 48 hours after submission. Submission is not a guarantee of approval.

Applications will be reviewed collectively by our grants committee. Grant recipients will be selected primarily on financial need and approved applicants will be notified by November 30th with checks mailed soon after.
