Andy Plautz
Andy's interest in photography began soon after her son was born, when she acquired her first camera in order to chronicle his childhood. Soon after, she found herself drawn to the natural beauty surrounding her in the rural foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, where her family had moved from Washington, D.C. She honed her skills while photographing those surroundings and what started as a hobby became a lifelong passion.

Early on, Andy discovered her niche to be capturing the exquisite beauty of nature and remains inspired by it.  Striving to translate her vision into an image that evokes wonder and awe, she endeavors to combine reality with imagination. Andy seeks to capture the very essence of her subject matter; to blur the lines between photography and painting and create an image that enables others to experience that beauty through her eyes.

Andy’s work has been published in regional newspapers and exhibited at galleries in Virginia and Maryland. A collection of her work has been purchased by St. Mary's Hospital and hangs in the new wing.  Andy’s photographs are on display and available for purchase at Opal Fine Art Gallery in Leonardtown.

Andy currently resides in Leonardtown, MD with her husband and several cats.

All photographs produced are printed on archival matte photo paper using archival ink for optimal image quality and maximum longevity. The photographs are professionally framed by Shelby Opperman, owner of Shelby’s Creative Custom Framing in Leonardtown, using conservation grade materials. Each is certified original and one of a kind by Andy Plautz.
