• Age: 16 and up

• Previous Experience: Some painting experience would be recommended but not required.

Class Description:
Participants will learn about Landscape Painting and Abstraction. Class will include a talk on the history of Landscape and abstraction, and chance to try out ideas on a canvas to take home.

Carrie Patterson Biography
Carrie Patterson is a visual artist working in Leonardtown, Maryland. Her artwork considers how color, form, and line metaphorically measure the human condition as experienced through the body. She earned a B.F.A in studio art from James Madison University and an M.F.A in painting from The University of Pennsylvania. In addition she was a student resident at The New York Studio School where she worked with second generation abstract expressionists: Charles Cajori, Mercedes Matters, and Rosemarie Beck.  Her artwork has been exhibited across the country with solo shows in New York City, Philadelphia, Virginia, and Minnesota. Internationally she has exhibited at Museo de Arte Moderno in Bogota Colombia in a show titled: Nine New York Painters.  Recently her work was included in the Washington Project for the Arts SELECT 2013, a group exhibition titled In Flux at Seton Hall University in New Jersey, and a National Juried exhibition at Addams State University titled: Squared: An Interpretive Exhibition. She is a Professor of Art at St. Mary’s College of Maryland and owner of Yellow Door Art Studios in Leonardtown.
